Randyland | Randy Gibson

First I got to say, Randy is the ultimate recycler. If you know what I mean. Everything here has a place. It doesn’t necessarily serve a functional purpose, but it is here for art's sake. Without Randy being around, all this stuff would be in a dumpster or a trash pile, which would be a very sad day. A sad alternate universe, but this is the Randyland universe. It’s like a supernova explosion of greatness and intense humbleness.

I think Randy really showcases folk artists. Randyland is a place to inspire the next Randy or Randyland. Most of my own inspiration comes from art like Randy’s. It’s not that I don’t find inspiration in the Steelers, but I prefer Randyland. I would love to add more art to it, or expand on this place. Go outward and upward.

Andy Warhol and Randy have something in common - people copy it, but it isn’t the original. It’s the ultimate compliment to have someone copy your work. It means your work goes on into the beyond. I think Randy’s artwork will outlast Warhol’s. It has more imagination to it. It’s not just a print of some soupcans. This art speaks for itself. The work is there, it is what it is, notice it.

Randy’s work is about the idea over the object. The idea is to make art for the people, for people to appreciate. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder - art too is like this. People need art to escape from stress and all the hustle and bustle of their lives. It can brighten up a drab place. That’s why Randyland is here.
